Row80 3/4/12

Well, as you may have noticed I did not post yesterday…and the guilt is slowly eating me from the inside out! No, Just playing. I was exhausted, worked all day and could barely keep my eyes open! So you all got nothing! Muahahah! Hate to admit that today wont be much different. I find that after almost 4 weeks at work, doing the same thing day in and day out.. I run out of things to talk about. Imagine that!

I’m still working on my WIP, and have written every day on it, whether those words are legible and/or staying in the final draft is yet to be determined. I have also started note cards for another WIP,But decided I didn’t want to actually start writing it until I have finished the first draft of this one! I WILL finish this! After three or four false start and stops on other WIP’s I feel the need to scream at myself on occasion…

I have lost about 17 lbs since we started this ROW80, so diet is going well! I read about 6 books this week, so I just have a few more and then I will start working on my “better your Plotting” writing exercise!

Hope all is well!

Row80 Update 1/25/12!!

Is food healthy if it tastes really good, I feel like hiding in a closet to consume it, and when I throw away the shiny metallic looking plastic I cover it up with the rotten lettuce I meant to eat two days ago?….Yea…Probably not… But other than some minor food slips I have been faithful to working out. I have done a KettleBell work out and went to volleyball on Tuesday. I’m planning on working out tonight…you know..If I’m feeling froggy….So workout goals are a THUNDER CATS HO!!! Food front? Well…the evidence is hidden deep, deep in the trash. There is really no way for anyone to find it, so let’s just say I don’t remember the exact number of calories I’ve been mashing into my gullet, but it can be decreased.

Writing has been significantly better!!! I wrote about 1300 words on Monday and around 1000 yesterday, for a total of 2300 in two days…WOO HOO! I feel like a train that has been chanting “I think I can…I think I can..”, for the last two weeks and just hit the top of the mountain in the last two days and is now screaming “I know I can!” at the top of my lungs as I hurtle downwards at an alarmingly wonderful rate. Yes..It’s THAT exciting! I haven’t done any writing prompts, but I’ve been feeling so good about the WIP that I don’t mind a wink. I’ve read a few chapters of my Writer as a Cartographer reference book, and although I find I frequently miss the map related jokes/references I’m enjoying the experience.

In other news….I purchased some fabulous bright socks in all shades of Neon..Does neon come in shades? Or is it just a plethora of explosions bursting forth in joyous abandon?

I found Abney Park, a wonderfully steampunk-ish band that has been quite fun to hum to as I tap, tap, tap away at the keys. I created a second “writing jam” and have even taught myself to turn Youtube videos into Mp3 files…Shh…Our little secret.

I also found a great site: http://bookworm.oreilly.com  Which allows a person as forgetful as me to read Epub files on their computer without the use of an e-reader, which they left at home… You simply sign up (free, and takes about 4 seconds..Sign in name, email, password) Easy peasy! And then find the Epub files you found online which your computer had no program to open, by clicking “choose file” then “Upload”. It’s really that easy. I’ve been dyeing to re-read Jean M. Auel’s “The Valley of the Horses”, Which throughout the years has been misplaced at my family home and am now staring at the first page, eagerly waiting to finish this post so I can start! Hope your weeks have all gone as well! See you all next update!

Cheers!

Row80 update!! 1/22/12

Workout Goals:

I started out this week with a lovely trip down my stairs…I’m talking bruised and battered 12 steps over. Despite this I was able to go to open gym volleyball on both Tuesday and Thursday! I’ve tried to get on the treadmill at least a couple of times a week, but unfortunately I didn’t even see the treadmill let alone run on it this week. I did go for a snowshoeing hike on Wednesday and I bought and tried out a Kettle bell work out on friday. And my, what a work out it is….

So goal wise, I’d say I got as much exercise as I have been wanting to get, but I didn’t necessarily follow the path I originally laid out for myself.

Writing goals:

I’ve been writing pretty steadily! I got about 2500 words written on my new WIP!! Which is productive with a Capital P!…at least for me… I started reading my writing reference books on my camping trip, but it got soaked with coal water…So, it’s been drying, and I’m hoping I can still read it!

I’ve kept moderately updated in the social networking world, but it is possible I could do a bit more. I wrote a non-update post about my trip to Skilak lake, and shot out some twitter updates as well.

I’ve been bouncing back and forth between a couple of books, and if my boyfriend would actually let me read them I’m sure they’d be read a lot quicker.. Is it just me or do non-readers not understand the importance of “reading time”…I leave the room for a reason!

I spent a few hours this week looking into getting a Bachelors degree in English through the state university system. It looks like there is no way I can get even close to finishing my degree online, and I’m not ready to quit my job, so I don’t know when I’ll be able to start. I am going to continue looking for an online degree, and maybe even just take a few classes online to keep myself busy. I’m leaning towards an English-creative writing focused BA or an English-Education focused BA with a creative writing minor. It really depends on what is being offered at whichever school I decide to go to. Anyone taken an online English degree? Recommend it?

Spending today in 49er red in a number 80 Jerry Rice jersey and watching my underdog team rock the Giants…A true David and Goliath day! Go Niners!
